As a Board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Ife J. Rodney has the considerable training and experience to effectively prevent, diagnose, and treat more than 3,000 conditions that affect not only the skin but also the nails and hair. In fact, Eternal Dermatology + Aesthetics is so invested in our Columbia, Maryland, area patients’ hair health that we have developed a Scalp and Hair Center dedicated to addressing the effects of alopecia and baldness. KeraLase™ represents just one of many sophisticated solutions available at our office. This “hybrid” system harnesses the power of laser treatment and special KeraFactor products, often called “skincare for the hair.” To find out more, read on about the four top benefits of KeraLase™ for hair restoration.
KeraLase™ gets its name from the KeraFactor products and the use of the LaseMD Ultra™ laser. By applying the laser to the areas of the scalp that could use hair growth the most, small microchannels are created in a controlled and safe manner. We then introduce the KeraFactor™ serum to these treatment sites. This approach allows for maximum absorption of the serum. So it can work as intended. You get the most out of these beneficial products since they penetrate so deeply into the scalp. This topical serum is made from growth factors and proteins designed to improve circulation and nourish thicker, longer, healthier hair. These ingredients are “biomimetic,” meaning they are engineered to “mimic” the natural growth factors in our bodies.
The LaseMD Ultra™ and KeraFactor applications do not involve needles, cutting instruments, or other sources of potential anxiety associated with more invasive treatments. Dr. Rodney may “prep” the treatment site with a topical anesthetic or numbing cream for utmost comfort before gently passing the laser over the areas that have sustained hair loss. This advanced laser system is also highly adjustable, so we can customize settings to support the most safe, comfortable, and precise treatment.
Each treatment can be completed in 5 to 20 minutes. The total treatment time depends on factors such as the size of the area to be treated; however, it is a true “lunchtime” procedure that does not require significant time off of work or away from hobbies and sports. It is considered to be a no-downtime procedure because KeraLase™ is not invasive. Most commonly, reported side effects are limited to mild treatment site redness.
Every patient’s experience is different. But we generally like to say you can get dramatically improved hair volume and thickness in around six treatment sessions spaced about a month apart. As the proteins and growth factors go to work, these improvements only get better with time. To promote sustained strength and fullness, other KeraFactor products may be incorporated into your routine, such as its 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner. And these products are always formulated without gluten, parabens, SLS, and other “nasties.”
KeraLase™ is also safe for all skin types, and we know that Eternal Dermatology + Aesthetics Scalp and Hair Center is proud to serve a diverse range of patients from across the Columbia, MD, area.
